Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4.
Soak 8 wooden skewers in cold water for 15 minutes.

Peel the onions and put in a food processor. Grind into a fine paste.
Heat the oil on medium heat in a saucepan and add the bay leaves and black cardamom, if using, and stir for 30 seconds. Then add the ground onions and cook for 2 minutes. Mix in the ground coriander, cinnamon and cumin. Pour in 70ml of water and cook for another 3 minutes. Mix in the ground cashew nuts and cook for 1 minute more.
Transfer to a serving bowl and stir through the 2 tbsp Onken Natural Set yogurt. Sprinkle with a pinch of chilli powder.
Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and thread the pieces onto the skewers, then place directly o to the oven shelves or under the grill and cook, turning and brushing with oil at least once, for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked.
Reheat the sauce and serve the chicken with the sauce on the side.
Serve hot and garnish with the red onion slices and coriander sprigs.
